Your initial session will aim to cover the cause of your pain and develop a game-plan to deal with this concern.

This will include a range of questions about your current symptoms, exploring your injury history and past/current activities which may be related (such as sports and hobbies).

A series of strength/mobility assessments and special tests are usually involved to ascertain the source of the issue. We aim to look at the body as a whole and will often assess movement patterns (including walking/running technique) and look for imbalances, weaknesses or stiffness which may be contributing to your pain.

Treatment options are then explored. This may include hands-on treatment and some simple exercises for self management. For more acute injuries/pain we may advise you seek advice from your GP in regard to medication.

If a fracture/tear/rupture is suspected, your Physiotherapist is able to refer directly on to a number of Radiology practices in New Plymouth, or we can refer/liaise directly with a specialist.
